It’s been a dream of mine to make an NES game and for years it didn’t seem possible. With reproduction carts and sophisticated hacking tools it now looks somewhat achievable. It’s my goal to create a working NES game for Straw Man. Right now I’m editing an existing game called “Shatterhand”. It plays great and has some awesome animation and enemy ai. My first goal is to reskin the game with Straw Man. Then create some new level design by first changing the sprites, and then editing the level layout with a program called CadEditor. Then I’ll work on composing an original soundtrack (which I’ve already done some work on this) and seeing if I can can incorporate the music into the code. If all that goes well I may ask for some help in incorporating original features into the game. Besides using Straw Man’s fists to attack I think it would be cool to be able suck enemies towards Straw Man by holding down the B button. To make the game more than just a platformer I would like to use a menu system similar to “The Legend of Zelda” to give Straw Man puzzles that he must solve to progress through the end of the game. “Shatterhand” already lets you choose the next level you want to go to after defeating a level. It’s going to be a challenge for sure, but I don’t think it’s too unrealistic at this point. We’ll keep you posted on our progress.
